Friends of KUNI/KHKE...
Supporting Public Radio for over 30 years!

Many activities and expenses at the station are financially supported by the volunteer efforts and contributions of over people involved in the Friends of KUNI and the Friends of KHKE. The non-profit Friends of KUNI/KHKE provides assistance with fundraising and public awareness projects.

Founded in the fall of 1973, the Friends of KUNI/KHKE is one of the oldest continuous public radio support organizations in the country. By making a financial contribution to KUNI and/or KHKE, a listener becomes a member of the Friends. The organization is guided by a board of directors (seen in these July 11, 1999 photos during a meeting in Studio One).

Current members of the Board serving two year terms are Sheila Baird, Denver; Pat Beck, Janesville; Liz Conklin (President), Waterloo; Tom Ferguson (Vice President), Waterloo; Steve Firman, Cedar Falls; Ella Mae Gogel (Founder and Honorary Member), Cedar Falls; Cindy Hahn, Cedar Falls; Jackie Jensen, Waterloo; Kristin Mack, Waterloo; Denny McCabe, Waterloo; Amy Mohr (Secretary), Cedar Falls; Mary Mumm, Waterloo; Judy Schultz, Denver; Melissa Anderson-Seeber, Hudson; Chuck Shirey, Waterloo; Don Shoultz, Waterloo; Steve Sinnott, Waterloo; David Towle, Cedar Falls; Matt Van Ee (Treasurer), Waterloo; Libby Vanderwall, Cedar Falls; Grant Veeder (President), Waterloo; Fayeth Walton, Cedar Falls.

The public is invited to attend meetings for organizations that have a decision-making impact on the stations of Iowa Public Radio.

  • The Friends of KUNI/KHKE Board will conduct a meeting on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 6:30 PM at the KUNI Studios, West Wing Conference Area.
